ACCES (ES)

ACCES, a venue-association gathering 119 members, has been working since 2004 to structure the sector and establish associations and regional authorities in the Autonomous Communities of Spain. ACCES is considered as the unique spokesgroup by the Spanish Government and is also a part of the State Council of Music in the Ministry of Culture. ACCES was founded to solve problems such as the lack of cultural recognition of the music venues’ activities and the fragility of licenses. ACCES organises seminars and workshops dealing with musician remuneration, social security, sound management, digital communication and audience development. The situation of music venues in Spain is particular since Spain has the greatest number of small music venues with the lowest average capacity (<390), and low subsidies incomes, which reflect the lack of recognition of those venues as cultural stakeholders.

ASACC (Catalunya)

Officially founded in 2001, ASACC is today gathering 86 music venues in Catalonia. Beyond the support, promotion and call for cultural recognition of the concert venues, ASACC was needed in the industry to achieve fairness in the application of laws and regulations affecting the music venues. Legislative changes were necessary to foster any development of the situation, hence ASACC worked on a “Welcome Campaign” and succeeded in rehabilitating the venues, and modifying the ordinance that allows live music in music bars. ASACC is working closely with Government of Catalonia and with the city council of Barcelona. Located in one of the most culturally dynamic and attractive cities, the association’s work relates to specific issues on urban development, Music Cities, cultural tourism, and the connection between seasonal festivals and music venues’ activities.

Club Circuit (BE - Flanders)

Clubcircuit is a network of 13 music venues in Flanders and Brussels, founded in 1996. As one of the main representatives of the Belgian live music sector, the venues of Club Circuit play an important role fostering the careers and the development of music professionals. Club Circuit offers young professionals the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and to share their experiences with colleagues through professional meetings and seminars. The topics cover various aspects of the industry – from VAT regulations to author rights, sound leveling, innovative business models and public relations. Club Circuit thus serves as a knowledge center for every topic touching upon the development of the live music professionals’ skills and competences. Club Circuit has been involved in Live DMA’s structuration as one of the first driving force.

Court-Circuit (BE - Wallonia & Brussels)

Court-Circuit, an association working with promotion of popular music, is coordinating a network in Wallonia and Brussels. The members are all sharing an agenda platform and touring projects. Court-Circuit is considered as partner and interlocutor of the public authorities in Brussels, as the association has been focusing on the professionalization of musicians and music organizers since 1995. Talent development and improvement of the live music sector’s conditions are their main priorities. By offering a platform for venues along with professionalization initiatives, Court-Circuit is running serval diverse projects for strengthening the different areas of the live music sector in Belgium.

Collectif Culture Bar-Bars (France)

Since 1999, Collectif Culture Bar-Bars has been gathering around 400 “concert cafes” in 60 different cities. The concert cafes function mainly as bars, but all of them are strongly dedicated to live music and organise hundreds of gigs per year, and for this reason, the bars are the grassroots of the live music sector and pose as the places where musicians usually play their first concerts. Grassroots claim to be considered as key actors when speaking of cultural diversity, talent development, economic and jobs growth, and local social cohesion. Every day, five cafĂ©s are closing in France and to prevent this from happening, Collectif Culture Bar-Bars has created a fund supporting artistic employment, amateur practices, nightlife issues, licenses, and they are in dialogue with domestic authorities, members of the parliament, local authorities and trade unions. Moreover, Collectif Culture Bar-Bars runs a festival, which is thrown every year in November, and nowadays, it is one of the major popular music events in France.

Dansk Live (DK)

Dansk Live is an association representing live music organizers, in particular music venues and festivals, which programme Danish and foreign live music in Denmark. Within this framework, there is great room for diversity. Dansk Live represents 128 live music organisers in Denmark and was founded in 2011 after a merge of the two associations Festival Denmark (founded 2003) and Spillesteder DK (founded 1972). The association is based on the values of a nonprofit logic and when creating profits this is reinvested in strengthening the association, the live music scene or as charitable donations. It is the association’s vision to be the Danish live concert organisers’ preferred policy adviser, and Dansk Live is today considered as one of the major representatives when advising and negotiating with the Danish Ministry of Culture. Dansk Live is working to improve the conditions of live music through political outreach and commercial agreements and calls for cultural recognition of the music venues and festivals as being one of our societies’ main providers of culture. In addition, Dansk Live organises seminars, workshops and campaigns.

FEDELIMA (FR)

FEDELIMA represents 142 venues in France – since 2013, FEDELIMA (FĂ©durok from 1994 – 2013) has functioned as a national network which gathers venues and projects dedicated to popular music. FEDELIMA’s office is located in Nantes but works with venues situated all over France. Its mission is to federate and develop the general interest initiatives in the popular music sector, by helping its members to anticipate cultural, economic, technologic, political and social changes. FEDELIMA supports the development of its members by providing them with resources and tools in order to ensure complementarity and cooperation from local to international scale. On a national scale, FEDELIMA is working as a partner to The Ministry of Culture and participates therefore in consultations regarding ordinances of the music venues.

KeepOn Live (IT)

KeepOn Live is an Italian association promoting the culture of live music. It is the first Italian network dedicated to working with the live music organisers and clubs. Twice a year, KeepOn organises meetings for musicians, bands and fans to talk, play and solve problems caused by societal changes.
KeepOn aims to spread the Italian quality music and therefore, they have created “100% BEST LIVE”, a ranking system voted by Italian artistic directors. These are requested to select the best bands performed in their local area. To support the economy and promote the music venues of the association, KeepOn carries out joint advertising and enter sponsorship agreements.

Kultura Live (Basque Country)

Kultura Live is the live music association in the Basque Country. Its primary goal is to work for the general and institutional recognition of the cultural and economic (especially tourism) value of music venues. Kultura Live’s work include promotion of the music venues and the association has developed several cooperation tools and campaigns for its members, among these an artistic circulation circuit and discount deals.

LiveFIN (FI)

LiveFIN is an organization running the common interests of different live music event organizers in Finland including venues, festivals and concert producers with the aim to increase the dialogue within the industry, develop the working conditions on different levels, promote especially the economical and cultural value of live music industry in Finland, collect data, be part in culture political discussions.

LiveKomm (DE)

LiveKomm is the unique confederation of popular music venues in Germany. A gathering of several diverse actors in the music industry from Hamburg to Munich, have led to the creation of LiveKomm, who operates nationally and also internationally through Live DMA. For now, LiveKomm promotes and facilitates the political interest for musical venues at regional, national and European levels. Advocacy on those levels is vital for achieving understanding, acceptance, and support for the venues in Germany. The priorities of the confederation are following: to improve the working conditions for music venues, to offer counseling and educational programs, to access and develop the economic, cultural and social impact of club culture with a focus on the youth and artists.

Live Music Estonia (EE)

Live Music Estonia is a live music branch of music industry development centre and export office Music Estonia. Live Music Estonia was founded in August 2019 by and for different stakeholders in the Estonian live music scene with the aim to gather them together and articulate common goals, map the impacts of the live music venues, promoters and festivals and get into dialogue with the policy makers on a local, national and international level. 30 venues, clubs, festivals, and promoters have already joined the national network since its creation.

Norwegian Live (NO)

Norwegian Live promotes good concert experiences to everyone! Its member organisations count festivals, venues, culture centers, rock clubs, blues clubs and student societies. Norwegian Live is working to provide their member organisations with a service that enables them to evolve and become skilled organisers over time, and the service also enables them to increase their professionalism. Norwegian Live is continuously working to keep the members inspired, informed and updated so that they can provide even more and better concerts. Their activity is based on three main areas: competence development, member counseling, and political advocacy. Norwegian live also help Norwegian concert promoters with law and legislation counseling, campaign information, subsidies, exchange schemes, etc.

PETZI (CH)

Petzi founded in November 1996 is the umbrella association of Swiss music clubs and festivals representing the interests of currently more than 175 members, working for a cultural and non-profit goal – the development of popular music. The Association relies primarily on the voluntary work of its committee – and working group members. Two offices (in French- and German-speaking Switzerland) coordinate activities and encourage collaboration and information exchange between the clubs and festivals. This takes place through meetings, networking-tools, public conferences, relations with cantonal and national authorities. Petzi do also follow the issues that are specific to club-culture, youth-culture, nightlife and live music and lobbies actively for those topics on behalf of its members by organising conferences, events, projects, etc. Petzi collaborates with organizations and partners pursuing similar goals at the national and international level. Petzi is supported by the Federal Office for Social Security.

Svensk Live (SE)

Svensk Live is the spokesgroup of Swedish live music. “We want to improve the world with live music and better the world for live music!” is the slogan of the non-profit organisation, committed to work on its members’ economic and social sustainable development. Svensk Live is working on cost policies, working permits for artists outside EU, secondary ticket market, commercial deals, security, influencing cultural policies so pop culture can be recognised as a culture and promoting equality and diversity in the professional music sector. Moreover, gender equality and prevention of sexual harassment are central topics of the work of Svensk Live. Since 2016, Svensk Live merged with another live music organisation and represents now also the cultural centers to form a complete picture of the live music sector in Sweden.

VNPF (NL)

Vereniging Nederlandse Poppodia en Festivals, also known as VNPF, is the association serving a venue & festival community, focusing on the basic music industry needs in the Netherlands.VNPF unites the majority of the Dutch venues which have an active and explicit artistic policy, along with the most significant organisations and iconic Dutch festivals.
The association is representing the common interests of the members in relation to the government, audiences and performing artists. Moreover, VNPF is organising conferences, publishing annual reports and benchmarks on venues and festivals, collecting data on its members, promoting their professionalism and pop culture as a performing art. At Eurosonic, one of the major networking meeting points of the European industry, VNPF is in association with Eurosonic Noordenslag organisation awarding prizes in Dutch pop industry.

NAKTA (LT)

Nakta is the association of Nightime Economy in Lithuania. It was created in 2021.

Salon IKSV (TR)

Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (Ä°KSV) is a non-profit cultural institution founded in 1973 and has after serval years of collaboration with Live DMA been integrated as an associated member in 2016.

The general objectives of the foundation are to make Istanbul one of the world’s leading capitals of culture and arts, to create continuous interaction between national and universal values and between traditional and contemporary values via culture and arts and to contribute actively to the development of cultural policies. The foundation hosts cultural and artistic events at its venue, Salon, and moreover, conducts IKSV studies and reports on the industry contributing to the cultural policy development.

The foundation is deeply engaged in structuring the music sector in Turkey, which is under influence of the currently delicate political situation.

LPNVA (LV)

LPNVA is the association of Latvian music venues. It was founded in 2021.

Circuito (PT)

Circuito is the Portuguese association for the valorisation, protection and development of grassroots music venues and clubs. At the present day, Circuito is composed by 27 live music venues and clubs from all over the country.

Circuito aims to represent the music venues and clubs before any public or private entity, national or international; foster the structuring of this sector and promote equality and accessibility for their players; acknowledge the role of these spaces in driving the growth of new talents, supporting music from the margins, fostering artistic creation, circulation and internationalisation and operating as cultural and social mediators within their own neighbourhoods; promote its members’ activities and develop training programmes and exchange networks of artistic programming.
