  • Mobility programme: i-Portunus

    Published on 25 June 2019

Are you an artist, creator or cultural professional looking for international collaborations, to go abroad for your professional development, to find new audiences, to present your work, to co-produce or co-create with others? Are you a well-established artist, or a cultural organisation willing to host artists or cultural professionals, to work together on a common project?

i-Portunus is the mobility scheme for artists and cultural workers. Its name comes from the Roman God of doors, gates and keys: Portunus.

i-Portunus is a demand-driven mobility scheme that provides financial support and allows direct applications in cultural fields (except for the audio-visual sectors) via a straightforward and flexible process, from either hosts or individuals.

Currently, i-Portunus is implemented by two pilot projects, managed by two consortia of cultural organisations.

    • One project, headed by the Goethe Institute, has already launched five Calls for applications in the cultural sectors of Music, Literary Translation, Architecture and Cultural Heritage and funds mobility for individuals. Access here the selection results for the Music mobility project.
    • A second project, the i-Portunus Houses, headed by the European Cultural Foundation, will be funding cultural mobility via an upcoming Call for Applications for hosts (e.g. venues hosting an artistic residency or a training for cultural professionals). Access here the current call for this project.
