    Published on 10 June 2018

In their budget proposition, the European Commission proposes to increase the Creative Europe budget from 1.4 to 1.8 billion euros. We welcome this proposition. However, the cultural sector needs a more significant boost.

Our joint reaction statement to the European Commission’s proposal for the EU future budget

Together with the the European Alliance for Culture and the Arts, Live DMA supports we claim a long-term, considerable and balanced funding of the cultural and arts sectors at the EU level, allowing for sustainable cultural development and ensuring culture’s crucial role in the revitalisation of Europe. We welcome the proposition to increase the Creative Europe budget from 1.4 to 1.8 billion euros, but the cultural sector needs a more significant boost.

In the European Agenda for Culture proposal, the European Commission commits to do more, through culture and education, to build cohesive societies and offer a vision of an attractive European Union. We call on the European institutions and the member states to ensure that culture, arts and heritage are horizontally included in and financially supported within each of the programmes presented by the Commission in the next Multiannual Financial Framework.
